Karaku and Ayako Ishiguro present a collaborative series of apparel inspired by yokai, mysterious creatures, and imagined beings. The collection includes four items—shirts, T-shirts, and pants—designed to subtly accompany the wearer while playfully stirring the imagination.

 

The left chest features embroidered lettering that reads “Hyakutō-uo” (Hundred-Headed Fish), surrounded by fine decorative elements reminiscent of fish motifs. On the right chest, the “Karaku” logotype is embroidered, blending Western-style typography with traditional Japanese embroidery for a unique East-meets-West aesthetic.
The back showcases a striking embroidery of the “Hundred-Headed Fish,” its body formed by the faces of one hundred different animals. Each face is rendered with distinct personality, symbolizing the “chaos and harmony of life.” The use of sharp, delicate contour lines follows the rhythmic line work typical of ukiyo-e artists.
